Day Four. British open St Andrews.

What a great performance from Louis Oosthuizen, champion golfer for 2010. Being the 150th anniversary of the first open at Prestwick in 1860, the R & A present Louis with not only the Claret jug, but the champions belt. The belt was the original prize for the winner, prior t o the Claret jug. A very special prize indeed.

Many believed that pressure from behind may have caused Louis to falter, but showing great signs of mental strength he pulled away from the field extending his lead out to 7 shots at one point. he eventually prevailed by 6 strokes.

Congratulations also to Waverley Golf Club pennant player Jin Jeong, who performed superbly to take out the Silver medal for top amateur. Jin finished on 4 under par after a fantastic eagle at the final hole.

Jin gained a start in the Open after his recent win in the British Amateur, held at North Berwick.

Security was much tighter today, and although my mobile was confiscated, I still managed to sneak the small camera in.

On to Western Gailes tomorrow and the day finishes in our next home for a few days, Turnberry.
